Bush hogging can also be called brush hogging. It can be used when acerage, land, and pastures need to be cleared of brush up to 1” in diameter. A basic form of land clearing.
Bush hogging is most effective when a property is dry, clear of debris, and relatively level. The property should be accessible by a tractor and have room to operate. We have a variety of tractors to manage most jobs.
Using large, heavy duty, equipment that is moving can be dangerous. Debris can be projected while mowing. Taylor Land Services is licensed and insured to service Polk County.
When mowing upland property, permits are not required for Polk County.
Bids vary based on each job. We offer free estimates based on several factors: size of property, level of growth of underbrush, and objects/debris. We provide written bids good for 14 days; which includes travel to, and bush hogging of the defined property area.
We will review the area to be serviced with maps/satellite images. In areas which are allowed, we use drone to identify obstacles and four wheelers to review property.
Due to the risk of wear, tear, and breakage many companies no longer rent this equipment. If you do find a rental company, you’ll need to be able to tow the equipment to the job site. Knowledge of safe operation of the equipment is imperative. Rental companies usually require renters to return, refuel, clean, and are liable for any equipment braking.
After the initial bush hogging, we can work with you to maintain the property. The cost is often lower for repeat mowing.
Heavy duty mowing is when we use “finish mower” pulled behind the tractor. This is useful to get a more finished look and mow vegetation that is too thick and dense for regular mower. Perfect for acreage that is mostly free of wooded material. Commonly used for empty lots in subdivisions, construction sites, large lots, and developed lots or acreage that requires a finished look.
If you have an overgrown property needing to surveyed, we can cut trails for better visibility of waypoints.
No! In Polk County special permits are needed from the City, State, County, or EPC for any activity in a conservation area/buffer or wetland. Many areas in Polk are green swamp and areas of critical concern. Often times, machines are prohibited in these areas and work is required to be done by hand.

Many lakes, ponds, creeks, rivers, shorelines which are over 10 acres in size have a 30 foot buffer from the high water line.
Often times, large tracts of undeveloped land do not have a mailing address. We are able to locate properties with a parcel ID or the ownership name. We can also use tools to get an approximate acreage to be mowed. As part of our e-mailed bid for your job, we will include a highlight area of proposed services.
